Love yourself; know that everyone has differences.
This also means everyone has the chance to do great things,
even when it doesn’t look like it in the moment.
Be kind to not only others, but yourself too.
Everyone has bad days, so we need to be kind to
everyone, and everything,
including our own and others belongings.
Respect at any age is extremely important
for emotional, cognitive, and social growth.
We speak kindly to ourselves and one another.
We only use our hands, feet, and objects for helping,
and only after we ask.
We ask when we want something, but respect when it’s in use.
We all take turns.
Learning happens in many different ways.
Play and learning can most often go hand in hand,
but sometimes they do have to be separated.
We incorporate a prepared environment for free play
to introduce and/or further independent cognitive development,
as well as workbooks, stimulating interactive activities
and technological applications.
Mistakes can be how we learn,
but we also all have different ways of learning.
DGLBCC staff attempt to use Evidence Based Practices
to ensure the issue is situational, and not a learning difficulty.
For this reason, we use a mix of both
hands on and hands off learning/teaching methods.
